Pregnancy ultrasound
Ultrasound scans are a safe and non-invasive way to confirm pregnancy in your pet and can be performed from 28 days after the first mating. Our mobile service means that the ultrasound can be performed in the comfort and convenience of your own home – avoiding a stressful trip for pets who are anxious about travelling.
With many years of scanning experience and using only high quality, modern equipment, PetScan Lanarkshire offer a friendly and professional service designed to put both you and your pet at ease.
We are proud members of the Animal Ultrasound Association meaning we have been trained to the highest of standards and adhere to high ethical and technical standards.
Microchipping
Here at PetScan Lanarkshire we offer a mobile microchipping service for cats and dogs using only DEFRA compliant databases, Animal Tracker and Petlog.
Taking a litter of puppies or kittens to the vet can be a logistical nightmare, having someone who can come to you removes the stress of trying to plan and organise such a trip.
Since April 2016, it is compulsory for all owners to ensure their dog is microchipped by 8 weeks of age and their contact details stored and kept up to date in a DEFRA compliant, with similar rules coming into place for cats in 2024.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Pregnancy can be confirmed anytime from 28 days onwards.
If you would like an estimate of numbers then the best time for this is between 28 – 35 days.
Whilst I am able to give you an indication of litter numbers, this is an estimate and NOT a guarantee!
This is for a number of reasons which will be explained to you at the time of the scan.
No, I scan to check for pregnancy and that is all.
I am not a vet and legally I am not able to diagnose any medical issues.
If, during a pregnancy scan, I see something that requires veterinary attention I will not diagnose this but I will refer you to your own vet.
I don’t print pictures, but I can send any pictures or videos captured during the scan to you digitally.
Yes, I can microchip adult dogs and cats.
Although dogs should be chipped by 8 weeks this still doesn’t happen at times and in some cases a microchip can fail. I can microchip your adult dog once I have scanned and confirmed there is no other chip present.
Legislation regarding the microchipping of cats is still very new, so there are many adults cats that require to be chipped. This can be done once the cat has been scanned and confirmed that no other chip is present.
